Hello and a very warm welcome to my blog.
As I write this I am struck by the question - when did you last let your inner child play and have fun?
The video was taken last week, I saw a massive line of dry (and hopefully clean) leaves, I just had to kick them about and have a bit of fun, my inner child was free and enjoying herself. There was no one to doubt or nag or tell me to stop it felt like a real release, so I did it some more, inhibitions sent skyward! I experienced a chuckle and then a giggle, I noticed my shoulders drop as I was safe to be me.
It has been said the benefits of inner child play include increased self-awareness, more joy, reduced anxiety, a more profound sense of freedom and safety, I can say this was true for me.
And you know by the time we reach adult hood for most of us that inner child has had their dreams depleted by negative messages from the world around us that value productivity over creativity, yet the imaginings and creative play of children produce dreams and worlds unique to them. This onslaught of negative messages from the world around us can eventually drown out our intuitive childlike selves, being replaced by self-doubt, leading to fear of trying or failure.
By letting ourselves play in the leaves or doodle or sketch or whatever takes your fancy there is a potential for greater creativity and actually increased productivity contrary to the negative messages dreams are attainable.
